Juan Carlos Carcedo, the coach: 2006-present

Juan Carlos Carcedo, an internationally acclaimed coach.

Juan Carlos “hung up his boots” at UD Las Palmas during the 2005/06 season, where he became assistant head coach to Josip Višnjić, and after, Juanito Rodríguez. He then began working as Unai Emery‘s assistant head coach, until he accepted his first role as head coach of UD Ibiza in 2020.  Juan Carlos has amassed a wealth of national and international experience as a coach.

Achievements as assistant and current position

After switching from player to coach at UD Las Palmas, Juan Carlos became Unai Emery’s assistant at UD Almería, Valencia CF, and for three stints at Sevilla FC.

And already as first coach, Juan Carlos Carcedo has led in LaLiga Española to UD Ibiza (2020-2022) and Real Zaragoza (2022-2023) in Second Division.

For the 2012/2013 season, Unai Emery and his staff were appointed coaches of the most successful Russian football club in history: Spartak Moscow. Following this experience, the technical staff returned to Sevilla FC.

Juan Carlos, as a member of Emery´s staff, became Assistant Head Coach at one of the most popular and prestigious clubs in the world, Paris Saint Germain, where he stayed from 2016 to 2018.

Juan Carlos gained more international experience at Arsenal FC, a world-famous club that retains the traditions of the prestigious Premier League, which is widely considered as the best league in the world (2018-2020).

After his experience in the Spanish Second Division, Carcedo came to the LIGUE DE CYPRUS to face his first international experience as Head Coach at Paphos FC in the Cypriot First Division.

"Juan Carlos Carcedo was the first coach who helped me improve as a player through video sessions, which were so very useful for me. In both defence and attack, he explained his concepts very clearly, and he transmitted them with such passion and confidence that allowed you to understand them deeply. Then, after working on these concepts at the training ground for a few weeks, I was able to internalise and perform them naturally during matches. He is a great coach, who was central to our team´s progress, particularly through working on players´ individual improvement"
