An intense and successful football career

Carcedo is an international football coach.

Juan Carlos Carcedo was born in Logroño, Spain, in 1973. and his family moved to Vitoria while still a child.

He played as a professional footballer for 18 years, beginning at CD Aurrerá de Vitorias academy in 1986, before moving on to RCD Espanyol. After some time on loan at UDA Gramanet, he joined RCD Espanyol’s Under-19, sometimes playing for the first team. In 1996 he signed with Atlético Madrid in the 2nd division A, and three years later, he joined OGC Nice. Juan Carlos then returned to Atlético Madrid, before signing for CD Leganes and finally for UD Las Palmas.

After finishing his playing career at UD Las Palmas in 2006, Juan Carlos became the Assistant Head Coach. In 2007 he teamed up with Unai Emery, and stayed as Emery’s Assistant Head Coach for 14 years. They started working together at UD Almería, before managing national and international clubs such as Valencia CF , Spartak Moscow, Sevilla FC, PSG and Arsenal FC, winning many important trophies along the way.

He lived very enriching experiences as an international football coach.

After 15 years as Assistant Head Coach, Juan Carlos Carcedo begins his solo career in the 2020-21 season leading the UD Ibiza and its promotion to the Second Division. In this competition, only 4 teams out of 102 got promotion. 

This same season, the team caught the attention of the entire Spanish football environment. In the Copa del Rey competition, UD Ibiza  beat Celta de Vigo (First Division team) 5-2.

Once in the Second Division, Juan Carlos Carcedo made UD Ibiza the last undefeated team in the First and Second Divisions (2021-2022).

Later, he joined Real Zaragoza (2022-2023) in the Second Division.

And currently, he coaches Pafos FC in the Cyprus First Division (2023-2024).
